Types of Biomass Heating Systems

Biomass boilers come in a number of different forms according to the fuel and the make. As such there are different set ups required.

The most common ones are listed below:

1. Wood pellet/chip boiler connected to a buffer tank(large hot water store). This increases the efficiency of the boiler and also means that it does not cycle.

2. Wood pellet/chip boiler connected directly to the heating system not as efficient but capital costs are less.

3. Wood pellet boilers can have integral fuel stores or can be connected to a separate fuel store in order to reduce costs on fuel delivery.
Wood chip boilers require large fuel stores.

4. Log boilers should always be connected to a buffer tank due to the way in which they burn.

They are many applications in which biomass can be used it is ideal for domestic as well as commercial applications.
For smaller applications wood pellets are more useful as they require less storage space and are tidier to store.
